Mid North Coast Rural Pest Management use a variety of methods to track, manage and control Wild Dogs and other Feral Animals.

FERAL DEER – Deer were first introduced into Australia as game animals.  Now, Feral Deer are a major pest causing damage to both agricultural businesses and environmental reserves.  Feral Deer destroy native vegetation, foul waterholes whilst spreading weeds and diseases.

FERAL GOATS – Goats were transported to Australia with the First Fleet in 1788.  An easily farmed animal providing early settlers with milk and meat whilst keeping pastural lands free of weeds.  The feral herds stemmed from domestic goats which escaped, were abandoned or deliberately released.  Feral Goats often move into areas where wild dogs have been removed or heavily controlled.  Like Feral Deer, Feral Goads have a major adverse effect on pastural and agricultural lands alike.

EUROPEAN RED FOX – The fox was introduced to Australia in the mid 1800’s for recreational hunting.  They have now spread across most of Australia destroying native animals and agricultural livestock

FERAL PIGS – Feral Pigs are a serious environmental and agricultural pest in Australia.  They prey on native mammals, birds, reptiles, plants and agricultural livestock.  Feral Pigs can host and transmit plan pathogens and disease including Foot-and-Mouth Disease.

FERAL CATS – Feral cats threaten the survival of over 100 native species and have been directly responsible in the extinction of ground-dwelling birds and the major decline of endangered small to medium sized mammals.  Feral cats are predominately solitary nocturnal animals.  MNCRPM utilise cat traps to contain captured cats allowing for identification of possible domestic animals.

WILD RABBIT / HARE – Wild Rabbits are one of the most widely distributed and abundant mammals in Australia.  There management is complicated as they are a common food source for both native and introduced predators.

BIRDS – The NSW Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2022 identifies the Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) Common Myna, Indian Myna (Acridotheres tristis) and Feral Pigeon (Columba livia) as Feral or pest animals.  Utilising trapping techniques and the latest in air rifle and silencer technology, Mid North Coast Rural Pest Management (MNCRPM) is able to manage these invasive species in enclosed premises and outdoor locations including urban, commercial and rural settings
